ABRP 68 - Corrosion Protection Principles

  • Prerequisite: ABRP 65
  • ABRP majors only

This course will cover corrosion principles and factory corrosion protection, with emphasis on repair methods and materials for corrosion protection.

Contact: 30 hours total. 6 hours lecture; 18 hours lab per week over 1.25 weeks

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of ABRP 68, the student will be able to:

  • Describe the process of corrosion and its effect on vehicles, and describe how corrosion protection is built into vehicles during the manufacturing process
  • Select and use various materials which are effective in restoring corrosion protection to collision damaged areas of vehicles
  • Plan and apply the correct corrosion protection treatment to enclosed interior surfaces
  • Plan and apply recommended protective treatments to weld areas and exposed seams
  • Plan and apply correct corrosion protective treatment to exposed interior surfaces during collision repairs
  • Plan and apply correct corrosion protective treatment to exposed exterior surfaces, trim, and accessories during collision repairs
