ABRP 71 - Paint Application Problems

  • Prerequisite: ABRP 70
  • ABRP majors only

Various paint problems and film defects caused by curing, mixture, and spraying techniques, together with possible solutions will be covered in this course.

Contact: 60 hours total. 6 hours lecture; 18 hours lab per week over 2.5 weeks

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of ABRP 71, the student will be able to:

  • Describe the causes of paint film contamination during applications
  • Identify types of contamination that occur during the refinishing process
  • Describe the steps & procedures used to prevent contamination of the finish
  • Demonstrate how to correct defects
  • Identify causes of defect related to spraying techniques
  • Identify & prevent problems that occurs during drying & curing of finish
  • Identify & prevent problems related to preparing area for refinishing
  • Describe how to prevent & correct paint defects related to preparation
  • Identify paint film defects, causes & cures
  • Describe the types of surface defects in finish
  • Demonstrate how to correct & prevent surface defects
