Articulation Agreement Procedures for AJ Students

- Carefully research your options for an Administration of Justice (AJ) related baccalaureate degree
- Speak to students who have articulated to the various universities to get their perspective on the universities
- If you decide to earn a baccalaureate degree from University of Hawaii-West Oahu (UHWO), look into the Articulation Agreement between Honolulu Community College (HCC) and UH WO
- Meet with an HCC counselor and inquire about the AJ Articulation Agreement with UH WO. Ask for the handouts and worksheet titled HCC Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in AJ Program UH WO Articulation Option.
- The HCC AJ counselor may complete the worksheet and fill in all the courses that you've completed in the respective areas.
- Use the worksheet as a guide for selecting courses.
- If you'd like to confirm that you are taking the right courses for articulation, bring the worksheet with you to see a counselor.
- Realize that for the AAS degree, courses under 100 apply to the degree however not to the UHWO articulation agreement.
- Transfer courses are first accepted in transfer to HCC's AJ degree then put on the Articulation Agreement worksheet
- If you plan to transfer to UHWO prior to completing the articulation agreement, let advisors at UHWO know that you are completing the articulation agreement. Provide UHWO advisors with your Articulation Agreement worksheet.
- Once a student completes all the requirements for the Articulation Agreement,
- Student applies to graduate with an associate degree in AJ from HCC
- Student completes the form from Records Office titled: Student Request for Access to Educational Records Student consent to disclose Educational Records to Third Party and checks off the box "Letter verifying completion of the Articulation Agreement between HonCC AJ Program and UH West Oahu Justice Administration Program. Request that completed form be sent to student and to UHWO Student Services Office attention: Registrar
- Student attaches student request form for access to graduation application
- Student submits graduation application and request form with payment to Cashier's Office by the deadline. Generally Fall deadline is October 15 and Spring deadline is March 15.
- Graduation application is processed and student is sent notification of graduation status pending completion of courses and grade point average if applicable. In progress courses needed for articulation will be noted on graduation application.
- AJ counselor holds onto Request Form.
- At the end of the semester once grades are posted and rolled over, Records Office will verify that student fulfilled graduation requirements.
- Graduation status will be posted by the Records Office to the student's record.
- The AJ counselor completes the worksheet verifying that student completed courses for the articulation agreement, signs, dates and attaches to Request Form and sends to Records Office.
- Records Office generates letter which Registrar signs and sends to student and UHWO.
IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST KEEP TRACK OF THEIR PROGRESS VIA WORKSHEET
NOTE: If apply to UH WO ahead of time prior to completing all requirements on articulation worksheet, can show worksheet to UH WO advisor to show that the student is working on articulation agreement
