AVIT 305 - Airline Operations and Management

  • Prerequisite or Corequisite: AVIT 102

This course is designed to cover the complex area of operational techniques and problems confronting the airlines today. Officials from airlines will conduct discussion on the real and immediate problems in airline operations. Market research and passenger trends, route feasibility studies and criteria transport aircraft will be stressed.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of AVIT 305, the student will be able to:

  • Identify management, administrative, operations, fiscal, personnel and maintenance factors that effect air carrier and supporting aviation agencies
  • Identify supportive relationships between air carriers, supporting industry and government agencies
  • Conduct research and prepare a class presentation involving air carrier management and operations

  • Identify management concepts, models and operational procedures used by air carriers
  • Appreciate and demonstrate knowledge of administration, flight operations, maintenance, ramp service, reservations, passenger relations necessary for air carrier operations
  • Identify and observe supportive relationships between air carriers, supporting airport authorities, industry and government agencies
  • Examine relevant issues as personnel issue, security, fuel impact and others that impact air carrier operations,
  • Observe, research and prepare a class presentation involving an air carrier or supporting agency

Evaluation Standards

The student's knowledge and understanding of air carrier management and operations will be evaluated through classroom discussion, reports, presentations, research, examinations and other assignments deemed appropriate by the instructor. A passing grade of 70% on all course material is required.
