CA 144 - Still Imaging II

  • Prerequisite: CA 131
  • CA majors only

Introduction to electronic imaging. Emphasis on tools, techniques and software used to acquire and manipulate electronic images.

Contact: 4 hours lecture per week

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of CA 144, the student will be able to:

  • Use language specific to electronic imaging.
  • Choose traditional or electronic imaging techniques as appropriate.
  • Explain the concepts of creative and intellectual property rights.
  • Interpret copyright and other laws relevant to the industry.
  • Discuss business ethics relevant to the field.
  • Acquire and create images using
    • flatbed and film scanners
    • digital still cameras
    • video
    • current software
  • Interpret a screen image for output.
  • Recognize the basic file formats used by
    • Windows
    • DOS
    • Macintosh
  • Use software to make electronic images compatible with any platform or format.
  • Use a range of printers to prep and print a file.
  • Troubleshoot printers when images do not print.
  • Assemble a portfolio that demonstrates competence in still imaging.
