CA 121 - Art Preparation I
Course Description
- CA majors only
Art Preparation I focuses on preparing art work for printing using graphics generating programs and applicable hardware in combination with selected hand tools. Emphasis on direct input to include drawing, tracing, and converting images for importing/exporting as well as understanding various file formats.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of CA 121, the student will be able to:
- Identify basic hardware components.
- Use basic hardware components.
- Demonstrate the basic operations of a graphics-generating program.
- Identify basic graphic software uses and limitations.
- Demonstrate appropriate scanner/program operations for:
- line work
- continuous tone copy
- Scan a continuous tone color original:
- Produce a halftone using a desktop scanner.
- Produce a color scan.
- Export scanned graphics/photos into existing page layout.
- Recognize the following graphics program capabilities:
- tints
- fills
- paints
- manipulated type
- tracing
- drawing
- template
- photographic image editing
- electronic art
- image acquisition
