CA 147 - Studio Photography

Course Description

  • Prerequisite: CA 134
  • CA majors only

Introduction to cameras, meters, lighting, materials, etc. used in studio photography. Adjustable camera capable of being used manually and a light meter required. Lab fee.

Upon successful completion of CA 147, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss the basic history and purposes of studio photography.
  • Use vocabulary specific to the field.
  • Describe how to set up a photography studio for small product, fashion, or portrait work.
  • Discuss current photographic business practices.
  • Interpret copyright and other laws that apply to the industry.
  • Discuss basic commercial studio business practices and ethics.
  • Assemble a portfolio that demonstrates competency in studio photography.
