CA 148 - 3-D Animation

Course Description

  • Prerequisite: CA 138
  • CA majors only

An introduction to basic 3-D animation. Includes history and concepts of 3-D animation; modeling; rendering; 2- and 3-D texture mapping; Boolean operations; motion capture; and special effects.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of CA 148, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss the history and current practices in the field of 3-D animation.
  • Distinguish between 3-D and 2-D animation practices and purposes.
  • Do modeling using the following techniques:
    • polygonal modeling
    • splines and patches
    • coordinate and geometric systems
    • transformations
    • Boolean and digitizing effects
