CARP 41 - Rough Framing and Exterior Finish
- CARP majors only
This course is designed to show students the basics of good house construction. Topics include layout and construction techniques of the various parts of a building-footings, foundations, wall and roof framings, roofings, exterior sidings, and door and window frames. City and County of Honolulu and Uniform Building Code regulations are introduced.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of CARP 41, the student will be able to:
- Identify framing members
- Create a material take-off list
- Layout a building
- Assemble sills and girders
- Place joists for floors
- Frame walls and partitions
- Install ceiling joists
- Calculate rafter length, cut and assemble roof
- Apply roof sheathing and coverings
