DISL 26 - Basic Chassis Systems
- Prerequisite: DISL 20
- DISL majors only
An overview of the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air systems used on today’s highway truck chassis. Through projects, students demonstrates basic principles and laws governing systems associated with today’s highway truck chassis. Instruction also includes the proper names and functions of major systems and components. The development of safe work habits is stressed throughout the course.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of DISL 26, the student will be able to:
- Identify the major components of a mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatic and fuel system and explain their function in the system
- Explain the principal of a class A, B & C lever and point out one working application for each class in our shop
- Demonstrate the use of a pressure gauge, protractor, test light, load tester and voltmeter
- Perform phone book research for parts, service and sales of various trucks, equipment and components
- Discuss the identification, handling and disposal practices with hazardous waste
- Write up and orally explain the three C's on a system malfunction
