DISL 28 - Lubrication and Servicing
Course Description
- Prerequisite: DISL 20
- DISL majors only
Classroom instruction and laboratory training in changing oil and filters, checking lubricant levels, greasing chassis and pivot points, and repairing minor systems normally included in servicing (changing light bulbs and reflectors, inflating tires, etc.). Students use check list to check their work and to inspect the major systems on diesel trucks and equipment. Students also learn to complete job sheets for parts and materials, and services rendered and recommended.
Student Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of DISL 28, the student will be able to:
- Identify all grease fittings on the equipment
- Write a service report on equipment
- Make a part list on supplies used
- Change engine oil and filters
- Service batteries
- Thoroughly inspect equipment for visible defects
- Check and fill all drive unit oil levels
- Check brake lining thickness and adjust lining to drum clearance
- Follow a service inspection form
- Customer relations
- Inspect all safety related equipment
