ED 296C - Preschool Seminar: Field Experience in Early Childhood Education II

Course Description

  • Prerequisite: "C" or higher in ED 151 and ED 191V, and (ED 131 or FAMR 231) and in ENG 22/60 OR placement in ENG 100
  • Prerequisite or Corequisite: ED 263 or ED 264
  • Corequisite: ED 296P
  • Recommended Prep: ED 215 and ED 245

Seminar to accompany the Preschool Laboratory Field Experience II class which is the culminating supervised work experience in an early childhood education and care setting. The seminar is designed to support students in integrating content knowledge with practice. May be taken on a CR/N basis.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of ED 296C in combination with ED 296P, the student will be able to:

  • Perform the teacher/caregiver role effectively in a group setting for three to five-year olds.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Prepare a developmentally appropriate program.
  • Implement an integrated program using the project, theme or unit approach.
