FT 41 - Apparel Design

  • Prerequisite: FT 205 & 215 & 217

Translating design sketches into flat patterns and constructing the finished garments.

Contact: 2 hour lecture; 3 hours lab per week

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of FT 41, the student will be able to:

  • Measure an individual accurately.
  • Draft the following patterns from basic measurements:
    • bodice sloper
    • sleeve sloper
    • skirt sloper
    • pants sloper
    • aloha shirt
    • child's bodice sloper
    • child's sleeve sloper
  • Draft design sketches into flat patterns.
  • Construct garments.
  • Fit garments.
  • Finish garments.
  • Produce accurate paper patterns with correct symbols and markings.
