MARR 41 - Mold Station Construction
Course Description
- Prerequisite: MARR 31 and MARR 40, or instructor approval
Provides detailed instruction in creating a mold station and a stem form from the lofting completed in MARR 40. Station and stem bevels and skin deductions are emphasized. The end product of this course will be completed mold stations and a stem for the project boat.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Calculate skin or "planking" deduction from lofting
- Practice mold station bevel determination
- Add stem and keel details to lofting
- Fabricate stem and stem forms from lofting
- Mold station construction
- Fabricate keelson
- Fabricate building platform (strongback)
- Practice erecting stations, stem, keelson and transom per lofting
- Apply longitudinal members (adding ribbands and sheer clamps)
