RAC 32 - Commerical Refrigeration
Course Description
- Prerequisite: RAC 21
- RAC majors only
Commercial systems: application, servicing, heat loads and piping. Absorption principles and special refrigeration devices and application. Advanced maintenance, trouble-shooting and repair of domestic and commercial units. Introduction to the concepts, theories and application of electricity as they apply to refrigeration and air conditioning.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of RAC 32, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to do technical work in a variety of heating, cooling, and refrigeration fields
- Apply safety standards and work with technical developments in the industry
- Identify and demonstrate correct use of tools, materials, and equipment used in the trade
- Demonstrate skills needed to assemble a basic refrigeration system
- Perform leak checks and repair as necessary to eliminate leaks in the system
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic electrical theory
- Perform basic system checks to make sure it is operating correctly
